The first stage of your programme design will be your fitness assessment. This is a simple and non-intrusive process used to identify any serious health/medical problems and will take approximately 90 minutes.

The assessment includes completing a comprehensive health and lifestyle questionnaire to get a better understanding of your medical history, goals and needs.

·   Full body statistics measurements
·   Blood pressure and Resting Heart Rate
·   Hip/waist ratio
·   Peak flow
·   1 mile Rockport walk test
·   Paced sit up test
·   Paced press up test
·   Flexibility tests

PRE-ASSESSMENT GUIDELINES

Please use the following points as a guideline prior to your fitness assessment.

·   Do not eat a heavy meal within 3-4 hours of your assessment.

·   Avoid smoking and caffeine drinks (i.e. tea, coffee, cola type drinks) within 2 hours of the assessment, as this will affect your blood pressure and heart-rate values.

·   Do not drink alcohol on the day of your assessment. Do not drink excessive amounts of alcohol the day before. Make sure you have water available throughout the assessment.

·   Do not undertake strenuous exercise on the day of your assessment (nor the day before if possible) as fatigue will affect your results.

·   Be honest about your answers when completing your Lifestyle and Health screening questionnaire, as failure to do so will negatively affect your programme success.

·   Please inform us as to any medication you are taking.

·   If you begin to feel unwell during the assessment please inform the assessor.

·   If you are, or have recently been pregnant, please check with your doctor/midwife before undertaking any strenuous exercise

·   Wear suitable clothing and footwear i.e. t-shirts, shorts, leggings and supportive training shoes.

·   Please bring a towel.

·   Listen carefully to the fitness assessor and follow their instructions carefully.
